Photography, Documentaries, and other media highlighting experiences with Ayurveda and Yoga

"#WhitePeopleDoingYoga" - Museum Exhibit

In this though provoking and highly controversial exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, artist Chiraag Bhatka showcases the commercialization and commodification of Yoga. Through his art and this piece for Mother Jones, Bhatka explores race and elitism and his experience as an Indian American.

Documentaries

Yoga, Inc.

“Yoga, Inc.” explores the commercialization and business aspects of yoga. The film delves into whether yoga can maintain its spiritual and holistic principles while becoming a thriving industry. It raises questions about whether the essence of yoga, including its good karma, can survive in a competitive and commercialized mega-industry.

On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace

Photographer Michael O’Neill shares how meditation and yoga helped him in a path of recovery from a burn out that affected his nervous system and physiology to the point of needing a delicate surgery that is resulting in compromised movements of his dominant arm. He spent ten years photographing Yoga’s greatest masters. The movie is a lesson of courage on moving beyond fear and pain; the documentary is a poetic declaration of gratitude to life and the obstacles offered as an invitation for growth that led to his full recovery. Full documentary available on Youtube and Netflix.
